Information for Individual Applicants
At present, GMCTF is only able to accept applications from women. This reflects the terms of a charitable gift which provides the bulk of our resources.
In preparing your application, please bear in mind that GMCTF has very limited funds. It is unlikely to award more than £3,500 to any individual. GMCTF acts largely to help those who already have funds from other sources, but who face shortfalls in funding. Your application should make clear what other sources of funding will support your study.
To be eligible for a grant, you should:
be female - GMCTF is currently only able to accept applications from women;
have completed a first degree
have achieved in that degree a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.3 out of 4.0, or a minimum of an upper second class degree (2.1), or equivalent international qualifications
have already secured admission to your chosen course
ensure that two referees write in support of your application - see below.
provide information on the total annual cost of your chosen course, including all tuition and bench fees and maintenance costs. You must explain what proportion of these costs is being met from other sources, as well as the sum requested from GMCTF
be a national of South Sudan or Sudan and normally resident in Sudan or South Sudan (though we are aware that at present applicants may be displaced by conflict)
demonstrate that your chosen course will enable you to contribute to the skills base of South Sudan or Sudan, and demonstrate your intention to return to South Sudan or Sudan when circumstances permit
Before starting to fill in the application form, please read carefully through the form, its notes and the information available on this website.
Note that the closing date for submission of applications is Friday, 28th February 2025.
The Trust's selection criteria are described below. The FAQs may help you to clarify the matters about which you are uncertain.
References
Please refer your two referees to the Information for Referees section of the website. Your application will not be considered by GMCTF without letters of support from both referees and it is your responsibility as the applicant to ask them to send these letters to GMCTF.
These referees must send their comments on your application to GMCTF by Monday, 10th March 2025.
Selection Criteria
Awards to individuals are based on the following criteria, which are weighted as indicated:
